I knew we were kindred spirits. On my way out the door for Bible college (awhile ago) my Dad said, “Son, don’t ask questions, they will send you home!” He had a point as I lost a couple church jobs for the questions and dis-ease from them.

Years later, I picked up Brian McLaren’s, A New Kind of Christian and cried my way through it feeling as though someone saw me and had put good words to what I’ve felt most of my life as an outcast for the questions behind the questions.

I don’t have many answers but am becoming comfortable living in the question.

Wonderful post.
I’ve said for years that I refuse to worry about the changing (read: decreasing membership) church. The church’s form might change dramatically, but Christ is always with us, always calling us. To me, it’s a matter of authenticity, following the Christ and allowing Christ to transform us into the people we are and are becoming.

Golly, I hope so! There’s way too much Churchianity going around and not near enough of loving our neighbors as ourselves, or of feeding His sheep!
